I've been somewhat bummed out...
What are those greedy bastards doing to our oceans?
What are those greedy bastards doing to our land,

not to mention all the pure ones that inhabit it?

I'm still enjoying my upside down container gardening but I'm wondering for how long. The summers seems to be getting hotter with each passing year, and when the hurricanes come, the sea rolls in, and it rolls in with a vengeance, ie; Katrina, Rita, Charlie, Francis, Jean, Wilma, and it will continue. Mother Earth is angry.  And she's trying to cleanse herself, and she will cleanse herself.  Sadly for us, it's not just a world flood that we were told about in Sunday school. Mother Earth is cleansing herself of people.

I mean seriously, we've been digging into the very bowels of her being for the last 150 + yrs, then we turn around and poison her air to the point that even we the small specs of life that live on her can't even breathe.  We break through her immune system to shoot our chemically and radically made trash into outer space where her God also resides. What can we really expect from her?

And even now as I am writing this, I'm saddened to no end, I am guilty, and if you're reading this you're guilty.  No man, woman or child is immune or innocent of these atrocities that have been inflicted upon our mother.

Man has come so far in the technology end of things. I mean millions upon millions of bits of information travels at the speed of light.  We've figured out how to escape our earth into the bosom of her makers, but we have no clue how to stop the destruction of the leaky valve in the bowels of our earths heart.

Okay so you're not interested in my beliefs or analogies then lets get to some facts here.  Someone brought to my attention the other day a simple truth with ALL big companies that offer a service.. They need a contract!!! The same rule of thumb applies to BP.  They have a contract to make that tap on the bottom side of our ocean.  Once that tap is closed, no more contract.. they would need a new contract to drill another tap.  So they're trying to get every little bit of oil out of that well they can before they cap it or essentially close it.

It's not the bullshit we're being fed by the media that BP can't put a cap on it, or they don't know how to close it.. Come on people... We're talking about engineers who have led us into space.. (same kind of thinking people) they know what the hell they're doing. BP and it's Goon's DO KNOW HOW TO PLUG THAT DAMN HOLE!  Problem is, if they did plug the hole, they'd lose their contract and much more money than they are now in trying to come up w/ways to save the oil instead of stopping it.

My tomato plants are doing well so far.

Down here in the southern most tip of our great land, where the buffalo still roam, along with their beefalo, in the part of this land where the muddy waters meet the whites of the sea, spring has sprung alast.  The blossoms are sweet & the birds they tweet.  This land which by all rights still belong to tribes of the many great Seminole is filled with a warm cool breeze that inhales gently and exhales with sighs of relief.  Sowing of the seeds have come late in the year, but their blooms are reaching near.

To Say it Simply... It's time to Play in the Dirt!! :O)

I quit smoking last year around this time, and the only thing that I was able to replace my busy hands with that really gave me greater enjoyment than the smoke that had filled my world for 20+ yrs, was to throw myself into container gardening.  It was so rewarding, and even though I long to start my garden in the ground, I simply don't have the ability to do so at this time.

(My husband and I are still working on the project that lured me away from my green leafy babies last year, that is our master suite, so I really can't complain much about not throwing myself totally into the garden!!)
But I've learned from last year's experience with container gardening, I don't want to take on more than I can care for. So this year, I'm starting simple and hoping to move up from here.  But here's the extent of 2010's vegetables so far...

"Green Bella"

"Mater One"

"Mater Two"

and finally, last but not least...
"Lil Peno"

Lil Peno, is much larger now and has relocated to a little bit larger home,
but still resides in the "Safe Sunny Sill" of my Kitchen Window!

Here ya go.. this was taken about 6:30 tonite. When I went outside around 2:30-3pm today, Ice was falling out of the sky, more so under and around the tangerine and big old oak we have in the middle of the yard. Turns out as it was, that the ice was coming out of the trees. My Husband went out later on during the day and noticed that there was ice on the tree's and the palm leaves. I wasn't goin to take any pictures, cas the excitement has done and left me.. I'm just downright cold now and wantin to stay inside under the covers and snugglebug the rest of the weekend or maybe til the next warm front rolls through!! lol right.. fat chance of that around here! hah! But later in the day one of our kids called and didn't believe us that we were gettin snow and ice in FL, so I ended up going outside to get pictures of the little icicles after all!

Old Man Winter is really bearing down on us this year! Here's a little bit of sleet starting to accumulate around 5AM on our car cover... (North West side of Orlando, FL)

I just love the Autumn Season with all the cozy harvest colours and the cinnamon and punkin smells.. ahhh... they're such pleasures to the senses!!
And the winter???  Well, Christmas is Grande when it's dreary with the cold that brings the familiar sparkles of lights & traditions that our families have carried on and continued to make anew every year since the birth of our Lord and the coming together of all his children to rejoice all together with our traditional and pagan ways!! It can be a rather Grande and Festive time of Year!
Then the bringing in the New... with the southern comforts I love and the traditions of family that I am so Fond of!!
